Paco Rabanne was one of the world's most renowned, True Fashionista fashion designers, and with good reason. From his quirky designs to his eye-catching materials, he created a unique look that transcends trends and continues to inspire generations of style-conscious individuals. Paco Rabanne was the first designer to combine fashion, craftsmanship, and futuristic technology in his creations. Many creations by fashion houses influenced by Rabanne can be found at True Fashionistas consignment store Naples. With the passing of Mr. Rabanne in February 2023, we’re taking a look at his influential career.
]]>Rabanne was born Francisco Rabaneda Cuervo on February 18, 1934, in San Sebastian, Spain, the son of a Spanish Civil War officer and seamstress mother who happened to work for none other than Cristóbal Balenciaga. After his father was executed as a prisoner of war, he and his mother moved to France. In his late teens, Rabanne attended the École Nationale des Beaux-Arts in Paris, studying architecture while designing jewelry and buttons on the side. "Most couturiers gave me the boot," he shared with Vogue in 2017. However, Elsa Schiaparelli, Balenciaga, and Hubert de Givenchy number among those who recognized his skill.
Soon after graduating, Rabanne established his first label and began creating increasingly imaginative garments, experimenting with unconventional materials such as metal discs, plastic fragments, wood chips, chain mail, paper clips, and even aluminum foil. His breakout show at the George V in 1966 broke boundaries all over the place.
Rabanne debuted his first True Fashionista couture collection at the Palais de Tokyo in Paris, heralding a new era in fashion. Soon after, Rabanne created dresses adorned with metal plates, tiles, and chains. Paco Rabanne quickly gained worldwide recognition and admiration for his innovative designs. "Manifesto: 12 Unwearable Dresses in Contemporary Materials" not only featured his first plastic dress, but he was also the first designer to use music as well as include models of color in his show. Look no further than Jane Fonda's iconic green dress in the classic 1968 science fiction fantasy film "Barbarella" as a quick reference to his work. Heralded art collector Peggy Guggenheim (niece of yes, that museum's founder) was also one of Rabanne's first customers, and singer Brigitte Bardot exhibited his style in the music video for her song "Contact."
His innovative approach earned him international recognition as well as being awarded the prestigious André Courreges prize in 1967 and the Gold Thimble award in 1970.
Rabanne's passion for clothes easily translated into an interest in True Fashionista fragrance. He was at the forefront of applying technology to perfume making when he created Calandre in 1969. This modern, feminine fragrance combined cutting-edge technology with high craftsmanship to create an absolutely revolutionary product. Influenced by a range of personal experiences and artistic inspirations, Paco Rabanne pushed the boundaries of fashion and fragrance with each new launch.
He continued to expand his portfolio with fragrances such as XS Pour Elle in 1993 and Métal in 1979, a fragrance "for young women who adore metal accessories." His creations adopted new ideas about what fragrances should be and attracted a wave of fans from all over the world. The popularity of Paco Rabanne fragrances continues to skyrocket today as the brand releases innovative formulas that bring back a sense of fun and modernity to fragrance-making. Discover your fave Paco Rabanne fragrance to match the perfect outfit from True Fashionistas, the best designer consignment store.
In addition to turning fragrance-making on its head, Paco Rabanne also continued to push the envelope when it came to fashion design. He was an early adopter of new trends such as asymmetrical shapes, peplums, and oversized cuts that became the standard later on. Paco's True Fashionista yet unconventional designs have been seen on stars such as Lady Gaga, Julia Roberts, and Monica Bellucci. Such diverse inspiration contributes to the brand's modernity while staying true to its unique vision of design.
Rabanne's passion for innovation also serves as a guideline for other brands. He was one of the pioneers who paved the way for organic perfumes with his 1976 launch of Calandre mineral water-based scent. In 2018, he even experimented with 3D printing to create the designs for his summer collection, Future Fantasy Couture. Rabanne took calculated risks with each creative project; his successes opened doors not only in fashion and fragrance but also design, film, and art as well.
Paco Rabanne's fragrances can be found all around the world today thanks to increased recognition for his revolutionary products and valuable partnerships with distributors, including LookFantastic and Sephora. He managed to stay relevant throughout the years thanks to a combination of ingenuity and imagination that allowed him to continuously stand out from his peers.
Rabanne's designs were often inspired by his interests in science fiction, technology, and the future, apparent no more than in his eccentricities. He gained notoriety for making peculiar public statements such as claiming he had lived several lives (including that of a prostitute in the time of Louis XV), to have known Jesus in a previous life, to have seen God three times, to have been visited by extraterrestrials, to have murdered Tutankhamun, and to be 75,000 years old.
In 1999, he announced that, at the age of seventeen, he had had visions of Parisians in flames throwing themselves into the Seine, then following a study of other concordant prophecies, he came to the conclusion that the Mir space station was going to crash in France on August 11, 1999, during the solar eclipse, its debris causing thousands of deaths in Paris and in the Gers region. On May 10, 1999, he publicly vowed not to make any more predictions if Mir did not crash into Paris. However, he claimed to have had an apparition of the Virgin Mary telling him to continue the predictions. These somewhat bizarre public claims earned him the nickname "Wacko Paco."
Throughout his career, Rabanne won many awards and accolades, including the Legion of Honour distinction from the French government in 1988. He continued to design until his retirement in 1999, and his legacy lives on today. Rabanne's innovative designs continue to inspire and influence fashion designers around the world today, and his fragrances are still as popular as ever.
See how Rabanne's ideas have influenced other designers by browsing the collection at True Fashionistas, Florida's largest lifestyle consignment store. Shop, sell and consign in-store or 24/7 online, and sign up for our email list for additional exclusive discounts on hot merchandise!
]]>Fashion can be a great way to express yourself and show off your individual style. When getting ready for date night, choosing the right True Fashionista outfit can make all the difference. No matter what you’re wearing, one of the most important things is to feel comfortable in your outfit. Choose clothes that you enjoy wearing and pick silhouettes that flatter your body type. If you’re feeling self-conscious about certain areas of your body, don’t be afraid to dress them up with accessories or cover them up with statement pieces like jackets or shawls.
]]>Here are some tips on how to dress for the perfect night out.
As recently discussed right here in this True Fashionista blog-o-sphere, a classic monochromatic outfit is a sure date night winner, paired with an eye-catching piece such as a bright bag or bold jewelry. This timeless look is elegant yet modern and will never go out of style. Additionally, if you’re looking for something a bit more daring, incorporate bold statement prints into your look – think one piece with polka dots, stripes, or plaids within the same color palette.
An easy monochromatic look to achieve is as basic chic as it gets, the little black dress, or LBD. From Valentino’s Crepe Couture short-sleeved A-line look to Khaite’s Hila minidress and Oscar De La Renta’s lace detail belted cocktail dress or Cinq à Sept elegant long-sleeved McKenna, there’s an LBD for everyone out there. You can also find a sizable collection of LBDs from an array of top designers at True Fashionistas consignment store, Naples.
When getting ready for a special date night, delicate fabrics can be the perfect choice to express your individual style. Whether it’s chiffon, silk or velvet, these lightweight materials lend an air of sophistication and add feminine touches that won’t overpower your outfit. When choosing a fabric start by considering its color – shades like white, blush and lilac tend to bring out the romance in an outfit while still having a timeless appeal. Additionally, when incorporating prints into your look consider ones like polka dots, stripes or gingham which provide visual interest without overpowering the overall aesthetic. A look to consider would be an ivory leopard print long sleeve chiffon top by Lulus. Effortless!
When selecting silhouettes opt for cuts that flatter your body type – focus on your figure’s best features such as shoulders and legs or cover up less desired areas with other elements such as jackets or shawls if needed.
Be sure to accessorize accordingly with items like True Fashionista pearl earrings or necklaces. These pieces can add just the right amount of elegance without taking away from the overall focus of the ensemble. Find some lovely jewelry accessories at best designer consignment store, True Fashionistas.
Don’t forget about finishing off an outfit with fabulous footwear. When selecting shoes for date night looks, it’s important to consider both comfort and style. While comfort is key, you also want to ensure that you make a great impression.
Heeled shoes such as stilettos are a classic choice that can bring sophistication and glamour to any ensemble. Think Manolo Blahnik or Tom Ford. There’s no doubting that Christian Louboutin red sole to complete your outfit. Consider opting for metallic tones like gold or silver, both of which will add shine and elevate any look. For more fun and flirty vibes why not go for pearlescent or glittery finishes such as a pair of Valentino’s Rockstud Goatskins?
Kitten heels are another great option - these low-heel styles provide comfort and style in one! They come in a wide range of fabrics and textures, so no matter what color combination you choose you’re sure to find something perfect. Discover kitten heel perfection in Prada’s suede ankle strap pumps, or when you’re ready to shake up the dance floor, go for Disco Leather Gold Raquel Pumps by Frances Valentine.
If you’re looking for a more relaxed vibe, then mules or loafers can be the ideal choice. Both styles offer comfort while still adding chicness to your look - opt for suede finishes if you’re aiming for something more casual yet luxurious. Think ballet pumps, sandals or espadrilles if you want something feminine yet comfortable. Look for items with delicate details such as bows or buckles for extra style points! Burberry delivers elegant simplicity in their monogram point-toe ballerinas, while Gucci offers flats comfort in a leather thong sandal. Ya gotta love the look when you’re pairing your date night ensemble with Lilly Pulitzer’s Jenna Wedge espadrilles.
Finally finish off any date night look with a handbag – they come in all shapes and sizes so choose according to what complements the overall vibe of your ensemble best – go for small clutches when going for formal events while opting for larger shoulder bags when attending more casual outings. Choose items in complementary colors within the same color family as your ensemble or select contrasting pieces that provide interesting contrast while still keeping everything cohesive. You can keep it simple with Dior’s Mini Miss lambskin bag, a black Fendi clutch or go bold with a thick-chained DeMellier London Santa Monica purse. They’ll hold your essentials and complete your evening.
The key takeaway here is that no matter what option you choose – having confidence in yourself is essential! With these tips in mind everyone can rock their own unique look and take on the town on date nights! ]]>There you are in mad outfit indecision mode. We’ve all been there, tearing through our closets, trying on a million different things. However, there is a simple solution for your True Fashionista conundrum: Just go monochromatic! Monochromatic fashion is a timeless trend that has been around for decades. It’s a look that involves wearing different shades of the same color from head to toe or just the one shade. While it may seem like a daunting task to pull off, achieving the monochromatic look is quite simple and can be done with just a few key pieces. Lucky us, True Fashionistas consignment store Naples even arranges much of our selection according to color. It doesn’t get any easier!
]]>It’s important to note that no rules are set in stone when experimenting with monochromatic fashion – creativity should always be encouraged! Mixing different shades within your chosen color palette or playing with accessories can help make your outfit unique while still adhering to this classic trend. Wearing multiple shades in the same color family will keep things exciting and seriously spice up a simple combo. And yes, accent colors are allowed when delving into the monochrome world.
The first step in achieving the monochromatic look is choosing a color palette. This will depend on your style and skin tone, but some classic options include black, white, navy, gray, beige, or bright colors like red or blue. Specific colors will complement different skin tones better than others. For example, those with warm undertones may find that earthy tones like beige and brown work well, while those with cool undertones may prefer blues or grays.
Another factor to consider when selecting a True Fashionista color palette is the occasion or setting in which you’ll wear your outfit. For formal events, darker shades like black or navy can create an elegant and sophisticated look. On the other hand, bright colors like red or yellow can add a playful touch for more casual occasions.
When choosing a monochromatic color palette, it’s also essential to consider the season or time of year. For example, pastel shades like pink and mint green are perfect for spring and summer, while deeper hues like burgundy and forest green are splendid for fall and winter. Outfits in these colors and more can be found at the best designer consignment store, True Fashionistas.
Once you have your color palette selected, it’s time to start building your outfit. When creating a monochromatic outfit, playing with texture and fabric is essential. For example, pairing a silk blouse with wool pants or a leather jacket with denim jeans can create an exciting contrast.
Another hot item for the ace monochromatic outfit is the turtleneck. Layer it beneath a tank dress for those chilly days. In fact, layering is key when it comes to monochromatic outfits. Try layering a light beige sweater over dark beige pants to create an exciting contrast while still maintaining a cohesive look.
Adding texture through fabrics like leather or denim can also add depth and interest to your outfit. ALSO, don’t forget faux fur. Fur instance (sorry had to), J Crew has a line of exciting faux jackets in an array of colors like powder blue and Barbiecore pink! Sezane’s rich dark red faux jacket is also not to be missed.
Sometimes the simplest textures are winners in the monochromatic world. Athleisure is an easy way to achieve the look, especially when pairing a sweatshirt and Lululemon yoga pants with similar-shaded sneakers. Aaand done! A dress or jumpsuit is also a good idea here.
Another key factor in achieving the monochromatic look is selecting pieces that fit well together. This means paying attention to the shade of each item as well as the style and silhouette. Choosing the right True Fashionista shades within one color family can create depth and interest while maintaining a cohesive look. It’s also important to consider the undertones of each color. For example, if you’re choosing different shades of blue, ensure they all have warm or cool undertones to avoid clashing colors. You can also play with darker and lighter shades of the same color to create contrast. Browse the racks of designer fashion by color and shade today at True Fashionistas, Naples’ best consignment store.
Another way to add variety to a monochromatic outfit is by incorporating patterns or prints within the same color family. For example, wearing black and white stripes with solid black pants creates an interesting contrast without disrupting the overall theme of your True Fashionista outfit.
Accessories are also an essential aspect of pulling off the monochromatic trend. Choosing accessories in the same color family as your outfit can help tie everything together while adding visual interest. A statement necklace or scarf can break up solid colors while keeping within the same palette.
Dwell for a precious moment on your handbag options. Handbags can be the perfect accessory to complete a monochromatic outfit. The array of colors and shapes out there virtually guarantees a handbag for every monochromatic outfit from neon green Versace to Michael Kors in stunning basic white. Find a huge selection of authentic designer handbags at True Fashionistas.
Regarding footwear for a monochromatic outfit, many options are available depending on personal style and occasion. For casual looks, sneakers, loafers, or flip-flops can add comfort while maintaining a stylish aesthetic to match many color schemes. True Fashionista ankle boots or heels can elevate any monochrome ensemble for dressier events.
Achieving the monochromatic trend is all about selecting pieces within one color family and styling them together cohesively while incorporating texture and accessorizing thoughtfully. With these tips in mind, anyone can rock this timeless trend, whether dressing up for work or going out on date night!

]]>When it comes to decorating your living room, pillows are often overlooked as a fashion statement. But they don’t have to be! True Fashionista pillows are versatile and stylish pieces of décor that can instantly take your living room from dull to delightful. Like most everything in the design world, they have a fascinating history. Here’s why you should consider sprucing up your space with these cozy accents. Read on, then check out the variety of designer pillows at True Fashionistas, the best designer consignment store.
]]>Living room pillows have been used for centuries as decorative pieces that beautify a space and provide comfort and warmth. Throughout history, these cozy accents have evolved from simple items made from natural materials to complex creations featuring vibrant colors and intricate designs. Let’s explore the fascinating history behind living room pillows.
The first use of True Fashionista living room pillows dates back to ancient Egypt, where they were created from straw and other available materials. In Mesopotamia, people used leather poufs filled with goat hair to comfortably accommodate guests at banquets or other special events. As time passed, elaborate embroidery and colorful fabrics began adorning the pillows, transforming them into lavish works of art.
In Renaissance Europe, decorating with luxurious pillows became all the rage. Wealthy merchants and royalty alike would showcase their wealth with beautiful textile coverings adorned with cording, tassels, and fringe – some even included precious gems! This trend continued well into the 1700s when brocade fabrics rose in popularity due to their intricate weaves and vibrant colors.
During the Victorian era, new manufacturing techniques allowed even more intricate designs featuring bold patterns such as florals, stripes, and plaids. This style stuck around until the 20th century when synthetic fibers like nylon and polyester were created – resulting in an explosion of pillow options never before seen! Soft yet supportive options became available in various shapes, which allowed designers to get creative with their décor choices. Enjoy the fabric and color choices in pillows available today at Naples’ best consignment store, True Fashionistas.
There’s an array of fabrics to choose from in your pillows these days. One of the most common fabrics is cotton. This durable material is strong and long-lasting, so you know that your pillow will hold up over time. Cotton also has a slightly rough texture, which makes it more resistant to dirt and stains. Plus, it comes in a wide variety of True Fashionista colors and patterns, so you can find something that fits your style effortlessly.
Another popular option is linen. Linen is a natural fiber that is lightweight yet sturdy – perfect for decorative pillows. Its breathable properties also make it great for hot weather since it absorbs moisture quickly and won’t trap heat as other materials can. Not to mention its True Fashionista good looks!
On the other end of the spectrum is velvet – a luxurious fabric with an irresistibly soft feel and inviting sheen. Velvet adds an air of glamour and sophistication to any space and looks especially beautiful when combined with bold colors or intricate embroidery. It may require more upkeep than other fabrics since velvet shows wrinkles quickly. Cozy up to the designer velvet pillows found at True Fashionistas consignment store Naples.
Today, living room pillows come in an impressive array of styles ranging from rustic farmhouse looks to contemporary minimalism – you name it! Plus, countless fabrics are out there, so it’s easy to find something that fits any budget or taste. Whether looking for something soft, cozy, stylish, or modern, having awesome living room pillows can transform your space!
The aesthetics of decorating with living room pillows extend beyond just looks – they can add texture too! Whether you choose solid colors or bold patterns, adding texture is key to creating a balanced design that isn’t too busy or overwhelming. Textured fabrics such as velvet will add visual interest while maintaining a unified look throughout the space.
One True Fashionista thing about pillows is that they come in all shapes and sizes, so it’s easy to find something that fits your aesthetic. Whether you prefer something modern and minimal or bohemian and eclectic, there is a style for everyone. They also come in a variety of textures like velvet, linen, faux fur, and more – so the possibilities are endless! You may prefer the raised lines of West Elm’s wool pillows, a suede pillow from the Basketweave collection, or the luxuriously fluffy softness of Z Gallerie’s Ombre Mongolian pillow; there’s something for all tastes in throw pillows.
Another great thing about pillows is that they instantly bring warmth and comfort to any room. Not only do they look great, but they feel great too. Add a few plush ones around the seating area for added coziness or accentuate your bed with a playful Mackenzie Childs design for extra snuggles - whatever you decide will make a difference in how inviting the space feels overall.
Decorating with living room pillows is all about personal preference – there are no hard and fast rules when it comes to home décor. So go ahead and experiment until you find the perfect combination that reflects your sense of style!

]]>Now we’ve heard everything. Are you telling me that in 2023 we GET to be weird? It’s actually a thing to let your True Fashionista freak fashion flag fly? (Go ahead, say that five times fast.) Do tell!
As we very well know at True Fashionistas, Naples’ best consignment store, the world of designer fashion constantly changes and evolves with the seasons and tastes of its influencers and consumers. While the basics are timeless (i.e., capsule wardrobe), trends come and go at lightning speed. The “weird girl” trend has been steadily gaining momentum for the last few years, but what does it mean for 2023?
]]>As we very well know at True Fashionistas, Naples’ best consignment store, the world of designer fashion constantly changes and evolves with the seasons and tastes of its influencers and consumers. While the basics are timeless (i.e., capsule wardrobe), trends come and go at lightning speed. The “weird girl” trend has been steadily gaining momentum for the last few years, but what does it mean for 2023?
To answer that question adequately, let’s take a look back at how weird girl fashion began and where it is headed in the next three years. What exactly is weird girl fashion anyway? In the simplest of terms, think Ally Sheedy’s character in the 80s classic, The Breakfast Club. Yeah, HER. Hey, you never know when you’re gonna jam.
The rules are typically settled, says Glamour. Weird girls emphasize unique, often handmade or secondhand finds that catch their eye. There’s no need to buy a specific piece or brand to fit in with the crowd. Like it? Buy it! We can appreciate that aesthetic and wholeheartedly support trying it out at True Fashionistas, Florida’s largest lifestyle consignment store.
Simply put, Weird Girl is a movement that celebrates individualism and eccentricity. This unique style trend encourages self-expression and pushes the boundaries on what’s considered socially acceptable. It’s an aesthetic ruled by wearing whatever you want. Colors, prints, textures, and decades all come together playfully off-kilter way. Think patchwork skirts, crocheted beanies, fuzzy cropped sweaters, leg warmers, and mini-skirts worn with funky patterned boots and clashing patterns everywhere.
When the Weird Girl style first started, it was more focused on vintage items and thrift store finds, emphasizing upcycling and layering to create one-of-a-kind looks. However, in recent years more designers have taken notice of this style movement and begun incorporating elements of it into their collections. Think outrageous collars combined with loud prints or detailed embroidery paired with sequins and fringe – anything goes! Answer the call at the best designer consignment store, True Fashionistas!
So what can we expect from this trend in 2023? Well, you might be surprised to know that weird girl fashion continues to evolve each year. We’ll likely see many interpretations of the trend featuring unexpected materials like leather, velvet, and bold color palettes. Designers are having a ball serving up Weird Girl fashion. The butterfly tank top and green zebra sweater by Canadian label Ssense are prime examples, as is a quite True Fashionista sixties print tulle line from Jean Paul Gaultier and mismatched shirts/pants from Diesel.
Ultimately, weird girl fashion is about embracing who you are and wearing clothes that make you feel good. Anyone looking to try out this style movement in 2023 can rest assured, knowing they have plenty of options available regardless of size or budget!
OH, the array of True Fashionista handbags to complement your Weird Girl look! Think of the structured bucket bag, then let your imagination run wild. It’s apparently what Dolce&Gabbana did when they created the multicolored, boxy Coffee Machine purse. Following suit, Tory Burch released the Raffia Tory the Toad bag, shaped well, yeah, like a toad! Does it get any weirder? Sure does! Try on Judith Leiber Couture’s Pancakes crystal miniaudiere bag. Crystals AND pancakes? Pass the syrup! Not to be outdone, we present Kate Spade’s now classic slice of pepperoni pizza purse and Bottega Venetta’s bright yellow mini-mop clutch purse.
There is such an array of Weird Girl purses out there that we ponder that this whole trend was created to show them off. Discover your favorite among the authentic designer handbags on consignment available at True Fashionistas.

]]>The late André Leon Talley was a fashion icon and author who lived at the forefront of the American fashion industry for decades. Throughout his decades-long career, he forged deep relationships with some of today's most True Fashionista names in art & fashion while actively shifting people's views on style and race through innovation, collaboration, and creativity initiatives worldwide. In other words, he was the truest of a True Fashionista!
]]>Talley was born in Washington D.C. on October 16, 1948, and raised by his grandmother in Durham, NC. As a child, he was heavily influenced by his grandmother's strong sense of style and elegance as she regularly attended church services wearing luxurious furs and diamonds. She raised him with traditional southern values but also allowed him to explore what made him unique and special - instilling in him the importance of being true to himself early on. At this point, we pause and remind you to be true to yourself with a fabulous authentic designer outfit from True Fashionistas consignment store Naples. Onward…
At 14, Talley moved away from home to attend a predominantly white boarding school. It wasn't long before he was off on his own, developing his voice within the True Fashionista arts and literature communities due to his love for writing and photography. He attended Brown University, where he studied French Literature and worked part-time at local fashion shops. Here, Talley developed an eye for high-end pieces, leading him to become enthralled by the culture that surrounded it. In other words, the man was hooked!
After graduation, Talley dove headfirst into the True Fashionista life via an internship at Women's Wear Daily. This led to an opportunity to work with Diana Vreeland at Vogue, eventually being named Vogue's Creative Director. He held this position from 1983 to 1995, ultimately under Anna Wintour and became one of the most influential figures in the industry. His writing was recognized for its refinement and his profound understanding of fashion history. His published works have been cited multiple times as impacting how people think about True Fashionista clothing today. Check out True Fashionistas, Naples' best consignment store for a roundup of what's currently available.
In the 1980s, André Leon Talley was one of the first stylists to introduce haute couture pieces from European designers like Karl Lagerfeld and Christian Dior into Vogue's editorial shoots. He quickly established relationships with them. His influence helped to create a new wave within a fashion that portrayed an effortless approach towards everyday dressing that also incorporated high fashion garments; this opened up the door for many independent designers such as Alexander McQueen at Givenchy or Phoebe Philo at Chloe who were able to break through and become stars themselves over time.
Talley had a profound impact on fashion, both on the runway and in editorials, by pushing boundaries and making conscious decisions to bring diversity and inclusivity to the forefront. He has left his mark on multiple designer labels throughout his career, including Yves Saint Laurent, Chanel, Versace, Louis Vuitton, Gucci, Proenza Schouler, Comme des Garçons, and Tom Ford.
He also placed great importance on introducing African-American models onto runways via runway shows like Stephen Burrows' presentation at Paris Fashion Week in 1979 - which featured Pat Cleveland - or even more recently using Jacquelyn Jablonski when he styled Marc Jacobs' Louis Vuitton show in 2008. He encouraged designers to feature diverse models and pushed for more excellent representation of women of all backgrounds within the industry by developing close relationships with up-and-coming talent such as Jourdan Dunn or Joan Smalls, who have since gone on to revolutionize industry standards for inclusion.
In addition to bringing diversity into fashion, André Leon Talley has helped promote ethical practices by publicly speaking out against garment production processes & animal cruelty as well as boycotting brands with questionable environmental records, such as fur farms or low wages towards workers abroad. This ultimately helps further build upon his legacy today while inspiring current generations of aspiring creatives to consider how their work can help make positive changes in the world.
In addition to his successful career in fashion magazines and television, André Leon Talley was also a strong presence in the art world. He served as a trustee for The Metropolitan Museum of Art for 21 years, worked on multiple collaborations with Andy Warhol, Keith Haring, and Jean Michel Basquiat, acted as a contributing editor for Interview magazine, and became part of Diane von Furstenberg's advisory board when she opened her museum in Brussels in 2017.
André Leon Talley was active within the fashion industry as a regular attendee of high-profile events such as Paris Fashion Week or Met Gala, appearing regularly on television programs such as "Keeping Up with the Kardashians," as co-host of "House of Style" on MTV with Cindy Crawford, "Project Runway"; teaching seminars at institutions such as Parsons School of Design; giving talks about race, culture and dress codes; collaborating with brands; designing costumes for movies like "The Post," and writing two autobiographical books (The Chiffon Trenches and A Proof).
On January 18, 2022, at what many would say was the peak of his career, André Leon Talley suffered a fatal heart attack. He was 73.
As the fashion world mourned his loss, many took to social media to express their grief. Anna Wintour eulogized for Vogue, "The loss of André is felt by so many of us today: the designers he enthusiastically cheered on every season, and who loved him for it; the generations he inspired to work in the industry, seeing a figure who broke boundaries while never forgetting where he started from; those who knew fashion, and Vogue, simply because of him; and, not forgetting, the multitude of colleagues over the years who were consistently buoyed by every discovery of André's, which he would discuss loudly, and volubly—no one could make people more excited about the most seemingly insignificant fashion details than him."
In her Superbowl 2023 halftime performance, Rihanna paid tender homage by donning a bright red sleeping bag coat by Alaia for her final two songs. Talley was quite often seen in a similar Norma Kamali coat with the same style and brilliant red hue.
This True Fashionista icon's legacy will continue to inspire future generations thanks to his remarkable work that has helped make fashion accessible to everyone. André Leon Talley will be remembered not only as one of America's most prominent figures within fashion but, more specifically, as someone who added a cultural richness to it through inclusion.

]]>Navigating the world of secondhand or preowned fashion can be overwhelming, with so many terms and different types of stores offering something slightly different. Besides businesses like True Fashionistas consignment store Naples, resale is the most common type of secondhand store. While these two kinds of stores may appear very similar on the surface, consumers should understand some crucial differences to get the most out of their shopping experience.
]]>Resale stores (also known as thrift stores) offer gently used items at a fraction of their original cost. In many cases, resale stores are operated by charities and focus on selling donated items to raise money for a particular cause. These stores can have a wide selection but will either carry no more than one season's worth of trends or exceedingly outdated goods (borderline "vintage" in some cases.) Resale stores buy the items outright from sellers beforehand — who give them cash or possibly store credit at the beginning of the transaction itself. However, resale will traditionally yield you less than with a consignment store like True Fashionistas because the shop is assuming the full risk and responsibility of clearing your goods off their shelves.
You relinquish possession and ownership of the items when you receive money from the store, and the profit or risk of the sale lies with the store after that. They usually price the product based on its quality and demand in the market.
Consignment stores like True Fashionistas allow shoppers to buy used items from private sellers at possibly even deeper discounts than those found in resale stores. High-end labels like Louis Vuitton, Coach, and Salvatore Ferragamo can all be found at consignment stores consistently. You can pretty much count on it at True Fashionistas, Florida's largest lifestyle consignment store!
Consigned items tend to be higher quality pieces than those found in resellers, as buyers must meet specific criteria before selling their goods in a consignment shop, such as proof of authenticity and condition requirements. Prices also depend on individual sellers; some might opt for large bulk orders like estate sales with a possible deep discount, while others may choose to keep prices high for rarer, higher-end products like the occasional Goyard. Because consignees often set their prices, it's possible that shoppers might find some great deals when shopping at these types of establishments.
In general, resale stores offer access to more affordable fashion choices, while consignment stores usually carry higher-end pieces at potentially lower prices if you're willing to shop around. As far as pros and cons go, both types of outlets have their advantages depending on what kind of True Fashionista item you're looking for:
Pros: Sustainability. Shopping in either type of store can help reduce your environmental impact while still getting your hands on stylish pieces. Both types reduce waste by recycling clothing rather than sending them straight into landfill sites or incinerators after use! Additionally, it's possible to make some extra cash by selling your clothes at either type. Although income will likely be lower from resellers since, many times, they don't accept the luxury labels or designer brands found at consignment stores like True Fashionistas, Naples' best consignment store.
Cons: Because many secondhand items come from various sources, there may be discrepancies in quality and sizing, which could impact fit or comfort level at a resale store; this is especially true for resales where size ranges are typically smaller due to limited stock availability.
Whether someone shops and does business at a resale store or a consignment store comes down to personal preference; each has its unique pros and cons when it comes time to shop for discounted fashion finds! The question of which type of store is better for you really depends on your goal when it comes to getting rid of unwanted stuff. If you're looking to get paid for your clothing or other belongings at the beginning of the transaction, resale stores might be your best bet. Still, consignment is the better option if you're hoping to get the most from your initial investment in designer fashion and make more money back.
Whichever type of store you choose, when you're ready to update your designer collection, have no doubt that True Fashionistas, the best designer consignment store, is the place to go shopping, consign and sell your luxury items. Visit us in-store or 24/7 online for authenticated designer clothing, accessories, and home goods, and be sure to get on our email list for additional exclusive discounts.

Over 90 lavish color photographs display a variety of Iris Apfel's stunning ensembles on wryly placed mannequins, some of which proudly display her signature oversized eyeglasses. Her True Fashionista combination of Dior haute couture with thrift store finds, Dolce & Gabbana lizard trousers with ecclesiastical looks from the nineteenth century, and pink Lanvin with ropes of Navajo turquoise are typical examples of how creative her style is. Apfel's various pieces very well could have been created to her specifications in a small studio or purchased from a Parisian couture house or local thrift store. An article penned by Apfel outlining her lifelong love affair with fashion is included in the book, along with an introduction by Harold Koda, a former director of the Costume Institute at the Metropolitan Museum of Art.

This Bankcroft Prize-winning book is a wide-ranging discussion of the geopolitical and historical influence of True Fashionista cotton and fashion on the world we see today. Through a history of mercantilism, colonialism, capitalism, and the records of both India and the Americas, Beckert masterfully discusses the complex legacy of cotton in our modern world. From the beginning, cotton production was a constant struggle between enslaved people and planters, merchants and politicians, workers, and factory owners. In a remarkably brief period, European entrepreneurs and powerful politicians recast the world's most significant manufacturing industry, combining imperial expansion and slave labor with new machines and wage workers to make and remake global capitalism.
A selectively curated overview of the little black dress in the twentieth and twenty-first centuries, organized by late Vogue contributing editor and fashion icon André Leon Talley. Little Black Dress was published to celebrate an exhibition at the SCAD Museum of Art (Savannah College of Art and Design) in the André Leon Talley Gallery. Featuring a carefully selected group of approximately sixty dresses from several of the most eminent fashion houses, the book is a celebratory tribute to the iconic little black dress (née LBD) and its deeply resonant cultural and social significance in the modern era.
When this book was initially published in 1985, novelist and feminist Angela Carter described it as "the best I have read on the subject, bar none." Elizabeth Wilson traces fashion's social and cultural history and its complex relationship to modern times. He served as an introductory text to understand the phenomenon of fashion in our modern world. The theoretical side of style is often either overlooked or mythologized, marginalizing it entirely. The theories of fashion as a psychological and sociological phenomenon are massively important to understanding the dark side of fashion behaviors like overconsumption, exclusion, neocolonialism, and loss of life in the supply chain. Wilson investigates the power of fashion to mark out identity. This updated edition of her book follows recent developments to bring the story of True Fashionista dressing up to date, like exploring the massively popular grunge look inspired by bands like Nirvana that's making a comeback now, the 'boho chic' of the mid 90's, retro-dressing and the meanings of dress from the veil to Beck's pink-varnished toenails.
You saw the Ridley Scott movie starring Lady Gaga and Adam Driver, now read the book that inspired it. The Gucci story is one of glitz, glamour, and intrigue—a chronicle of the rise, near fall, and subsequent resurgence of a fashion dynasty. On the morning of March 27, 1995, four quick shots rang out on a Milan street. Maurizio Gucci, the heir to the fabulous fashion dynasty, had been ambushed and slain on the steps to his office by an unknown gunman. Two years later, Milan's chief of police entered the sumptuous palazzo of Maurizio's ex-wife, Patrizia Reggiani—nicknamed "the Black Widow" by the press—and arrested her for the murder. Did Patrizia kill her ex-husband because his spending was wildly out of control? Did she do it because he was preparing to marry his mistress? May Patrizia didn't do it at all? Beautifully written, impeccably researched, and widely acclaimed, The House of Gucci is a page-turning account of high fashion, high finance, and heartrending personal tragedy. Does the movie hold up to the book? Find out for yourself.

Whether you're looking to transition your wardrobe with a few essential items or completely revamp your look, these True Fashionista color palettes offer an array of options for any style.
For instance, a bright red Free People turtleneck paired with crisp white trousers exudes a classic charm that won't go unnoticed. Alternatively, a bold floral print dress in deep cobalt blue is perfect for making a statement at any gathering. Find them arranged by color at Naples' best consignment store, True Fashionistas! That way, you can keep up with the latest trends without breaking the bank!
Not only are these shades eye-catching, but they also offer an abundance of ways to express yourself through fashion this season. You can use them to create flattering ensembles that suit your style while still being stylishly on-trend. Try matching pieces from different True Fashionista designers or mixing prints—the possibilities are endless for creating unique outfits using these gorgeous hues.
Playing around with various looks across True Fashionista scarves, hats, and jewelry can give your face an entirely new dimension. When done right, this allows for subtle statements like camel-felt fedoras or vibrant silk square scarves that tie everything together perfectly.
There's nothing quite like the perfect accessory to complete an outfit. From statement jewelry pieces to stylish hats, must-have accessories add personality and flair to any look. They can also be practical - in some cases, even life-saving. As a fashion lover, you'll want to ensure your wardrobe is stocked with these important finds.
When it comes to accessorizing your look, keep it simple yet bold. Focus on quality pieces with staying power, such as classic clutches or statement necklaces in gold or silver. Pick timeless pieces you can wear for years - no need to follow every trend if it's not your style! Handbags or backpacks provide style and function - invest in a quality leather piece that will last you many years. True Fashionistas is all about accessories, especially when it comes to our collection of authentic designer handbags on consignment!
Hats are great for protecting yourself from the sun and rain - choose a wide-brimmed hat or Saint Laurent baseball cap for a day on a gorgeous Naples, FL beach, or a more structured piece for cooler weather. Scarves are timeless and versatile - use them as an extra layer of fabric protection when the temperature dips, or tie one around your neck for a bit of additional color and texture.
Sunglasses are also essential not only for shielding your eyes from the sun's rays but also giving you instant coolness factor! Shapely sunglasses in geometric and rectangular looks like those by Schiaparelli are proving themselves this season.
Lastly, don't underestimate the power of True Fashionista shoes! Go for comfort and versatility – there's nothing worse than having shoe regret after splurging on a pair of high heels that felt great in the store but then gave you blisters after two hours! Investing in shoes with arch support can help protect your feet from developing pain over time, so opt for quality over quantity.
Must-have accessories should be all about adding personal touches and creating unique looks without compromising comfort or practicality. Ultimately, it is up to you to decide which pieces work best with your wardrobe – so get creative!
When it comes to shopping for designer clothing and accessories, not only is True Fashionistas consignment store, Naples, chock-full of authenticated designer labels and high-end pieces at discounted prices, but we also provide an exciting shopping experience like no other. From the thrill of the hunt to the satisfaction of finding a hidden gem, we offer something for everyone. As such, it's essential to know how to maximize your shopping experience to get the most out of your visits. Here's a guide on how to shop our lifestyle consignment store like a pro.
]]>The first step to a successful experience at True Fashionistas is doing some research. Before even stepping foot in the store or clicking to shop online, take some time to familiarize yourself with what we have available by perusing our easy-to-navigate website or social media channels. Here is a detailed description of items and our current promotions or deals. Knowing what you're looking for ahead of time will save you time and energy while shopping and ensure that you don't miss out on any sales or must-have items that catch your eye along the way.
Find designer pieces that are right for you by determining which designers fit your style. If you know the labels you tend to gravitate towards more often, you can start browsing through their in-store or online collections. Pay attention to the fabrics, cuts, and shapes that high-end designers use to get an idea of what appeals most to you. Be it a Gucci belt, Chanel handbag, or Christian Louboutin red-soled stilettos, you can also draw inspiration from our blogs or celebrities who rock similar styles – this will allow you to identify trends that work best for your wardrobe.
Once you have narrowed down a few designers who fit your aesthetic, consider how their clothes interact with casual and formal events. For instance, if you're looking for something dressier than jeans and a t-shirt, perhaps look for chic eveningwear from labels like Balmain or Versace that can take any outfit from day to night in no time. On the other hand, if everyday wear is more up your alley, browse the aisles of True Fashionistas, Naples' best consignment store, to find classic staples like tailored blazers or overcoats from labels such as Burberry. These capsule pieces provide an elevated touch while remaining versatile for everyday use.
Don't forget about accessories! Shoes, jewelry, scarves, and more can significantly change an outfit when paired correctly, making them must-haves when creating stylish looks. We arrange our collections by color so you can match each piece perfectly, creating endless True possibilities while still keeping within a budget, not to mention helping reduce waste for the sustainability factor.
We'll gladly admit it. There's something for everyone at True Fashionistas, Florida's largest lifestyle consignment store! Don't let this overwhelm you; instead, enjoy it. Take your time browsing through each section, trying on different items, and exploring all that our store has to offer. After all, this is part of why shopping at consignment stores is so much fun — discovering new items you wouldn't usually find in traditional retail outlets — so don't rush through it!
Keep in mind that in-store sales at True Fashionistas are brisk, and what you see online may not be in stock by the time you get to the store to purchase it. Our best advice here? If you find it online, buy it online! We make online shopping a breeze!
When shopping at True Fashionistas, it's always helpful to ask questions if you're unsure about something or need more information about an item or promotion. Our knowledgeable staff are fashion enthusiasts and are familiar with what we have in stock. They can answer most any question regarding fit, material or care instructions, etc., so don't hesitate to inquire before making your purchase decision. This will ensure that you make an educated acquisition.
Often, garments come to us without care labels. In this case, our staff will make an educated guess as to care of the item, but you may want to check online for more detailed instructions.
Take advantage of the many True Fashionistas promotional offers and discounts, such as our exclusive email discounts and holiday sales. Combining these with the discount you're already getting by shopping resale and consignment saves you even more money in the long run!
Since all products sold at an online consignment store are pre-worn, remember that there may be slight variations in sizing compared to new items purchased directly from a designer store or website. That being said, make sure to read product descriptions carefully, so you know what size is being offered, and ask us upfront about measurements if needed (e.g., bust size).
Make sure to review our shipping fees on orders under $100, estimated delivery dates, and more, guaranteeing an efficient transaction with no surprises along the way! In addition, make sure you're aware of any return policy before ordering just in case something isn't quite right once it arrives. This will provide peace of mind knowing your shopping and consignment money is well spent with True Fashionistas.
Shopping for designer clothes and accessories at consignment stores like True Fashionistas can be incredibly exciting - from the thrill of finding hidden gems amongst many racks of clothing to discovering amazing deals on high-end labels that would otherwise be out of reach financially - it's practically impossible not to enjoy yourself while hunting for bargains here!
Knowing these basics for shopping at True Fashionistas, the best designer consignment store, will help make your online shopping experience both pleasant and successful! You'll be able to snag some unique pieces at prices much lower than buying them new – and it's always nice to know that you're supporting sustainable fashion practices by shopping secondhand. Shop in-store and 24/7 online, and as mentioned above, be sure to get on our email list for additional exclusive discounts!

Ah, the classic T-shirt: a staple of any True Fashionista wardrobe since it first made its debut in 1913. Back then, it was nothing more than a humble undershirt meant to provide extra warmth under your shirt and jacket. Today, however, the T-shirt has become an iconic fashion statement – proving that even the most straightforward garments can have quite an impressive legacy. Shop the diverse selection of T-shirts at True Fashionistas, Naples' best consignment store.
]]>We've come a long way since its primitive beginnings, with designers now creating True Fashionista collections centered entirely around this essential wardrobe piece. While the fashion world continues to evolve and transform the humble T-shirt, it's interesting to take a moment and recognize where it all started. The next time you put on your favorite t-shirt design, consider the intriguing fashion history that got us here today.
Let's jump in with the question that's burning at the top of your mind right now: What is the correct way to spell the thing: T-shirt, t-shirt, T shirt, tee-shirt, or tee shirt? This very heated discussion no doubt happens at coffeehouses and kitchen tables worldwide. Therefore, to avoid a meltdown over a perfectly perfect cup of cappuccino, here's the oh-so-democratic answer: they're all correct! Using the upper-case T most closely resembles the garment's shape, so we'll just go with that one. At least for today, but moving on…
It's hard to believe that such a fashion staple of recent times had its simple origins as an undergarment for 19th-century men! Workers would slice their jumpsuits to the waist to keep cool during the spring and summer months. Sometime between the Spanish-American War in 1898 and 1913, the U.S. Navy began issuing them as standard undershirts. In 1905 they were being marketed as "bachelor undershirts."
In 1920 the term 'T-shirt" was inducted into the English dictionary, thanks to F. Scott Fitzgerald's use of the word in his novel This Side of Paradise. And we quote,
"So early in September Amory, provided with 'six suits summer underwear, six suits winter underwear, one sweater or T-shirt, one jersey, one overcoat, winter, etc.,' set out for New England, the land of schools."
From these humble origins, the ordinary T-shirt has undergone drastic changes. As fashion trends shifted and evolved, so did this trusty wardrobe staple found in abundance at True Fashionistas consignment store Naples. In the 1920s, for example, they became popular amongst college students who wanted something comfortable yet fashionable to wear while lounging around campus; thus began the 'unisex' look.
The 1940s saw t-shirts evolve again – this time into what we now recognize as a 'muscle shirt,' complete with short sleeves and an athletic fit. Then in 1950, Marlon Brando famously rocked a white t-shirt as Stanley Kowalski in A Streetcar Named Desire, followed by James Dean in 1955's Rebel Without a Cause. Thanks to these two legendary performances, the popularity of the T-shirt as a stand-alone outerwear garment skyrocketed.
It was in the 1950s that t-shirts first became art canvases for custom designs, giving rise to the 'printed t-shirt' trend that remains popular today. Find them at the best designer consignment store, True Fashionistas.
In the 1960s and beyond, the standard T-shirt continued to morph and adapt in tune with current fashion trends. From granny shirts and psychedelic prints of the sixties to wild colors and bold graphics of the seventies – no trend was too outlandish for this True Fashionista wardrobe staple!
By the eighties, T-shirts had become the go-to for anyone looking to showcase their style. Whether it was rock bands, sports teams, celebrities, or cartoon characters – if it could be printed onto a t-shirt, you could guarantee someone would wear it.
Today, the everyday t-shirt has become an icon of fashion and culture. Though no longer just a simple undershirt, its versatility remains unchanged; it can be dressed up with smart trousers or layered over jeans and still look equally stylish.
High fashion designers have put their True Fashionista touches on them, with T-shirts from Gucci to Moschino and Marc Jacobs among the many offerings. It's no wonder that after all these years, no matter how you spell it, the T-shirt is still one of our most beloved garments!

]]>We love our True Fashionista fashion community. Thinking of the whole reminds us that it’s not just designers and models who make the magic happen; it’s a varied pool of talented stars, both in front of and behind the camera and the sewing machine, creating art and helping to spread the word.
We pause at the end of 2022 to shine the light on the lives that the fashion world lost this past year, and the acts of kindness and opportunity in which they had a hand. They shaped many of the styles you shop for when you visit True Fashionistas consignment store Naples. Here we pay tribute to those talented individuals who contributed so much to the industry during their time with us.

Here we pay tribute to those talented individuals who contributed so much to the industry during their time with us.
Best known as editor-at-large of Vogue Magazine from 1998-2013, André Leon Talley rose through the ranks for many years before assuming the title. He was Vogue’s fashion news director for many of the eighties, then its first African-American male creative director from 1988-1995. Regarded as a True Fashionista fashion icon, stylist, and fashion journalist, he was also noted for supporting up-and-coming designers and advocating for diversity in the fashion industry. At the same time, his trademark capes, kaftans, and robes cemented him as a trendsetter. Talley also served on the judging panel for several seasons of America’s Next Top Model, appeared in Sex in the City the movie (2008), and has written several books, including a memoir.
You may not be so familiar with her, but Lucinda Hollingsworth lit up the covers of Vogue and Glamour as a model from 1956-1959. Born in Long Island, she signed with Ford Models after high school. She also modeled for Monet Jewelry, Revlon, Chanel, Balmain Parfums, Gilbey’s Vodka, and Tricosa knitwear. Following her modeling career, Hollingsworth designed her clothing, did volunteer work, and indulged in antiquing and gardening, lifelong passions. Hollingsworth was an unforgettable face of her generation. Think of Ms. Hollingsworth while you shop for Chanel at True Fashionistas, the best designer consignment store.
Models wouldn’t look half as good to the world without makeup artists. One of the industry’s finest passed on in 2022. Born into an upper-class Italian family, an inexperienced Manzoni landed his first job at Elizabeth Arden in Rome. He soon made a name for himself, working with notables. He also collaborated with True Fashionista designers, creating fantastical cosmetic styles to enhance their work and play up the fantasy element. In 1965, a year after moving to the U.S. and joining Elizabeth Arden’s New York office, he received the inaugural Coty Award. “Elizabeth Arden’s Pablo has done for makeup and the makeup man what Kenneth did for hair and the hairdresser, he has lifted cosmetics from an accessory executed by who knows to an important component of fashion executed by a star,” wrote Priscilla Tucker, a Herald Tribune News Service writer in 1965. Added Vogue when he joined for his debut May 1964 issue, “The great Pablo is now here.” True Fashionistas, Naples’ best consignment store, is here for you to shop and find greatness.
A self-taught photographer born in Le Havre, France, Patrick Demarchelier incorporated natural grace and elegance in his art. He worked closely with Grace Coddington at British and American Vogue, and in 1989 he became the personal portraitist of none other than Diana, Princess of Wales. He received many awards from the French Ministry of Culture and the Council of Fashion Designers of America. “Photographers have to make the clothes look fantastic. That’s why we get paid,” he said in a 2012 interview, “and I have positive eyes.”
It’s as individual as it gets. The self-named Jordan created a character and launched it full force into the punk rock music and style revolution of late 70’s London. Jordan, nee Rooke, was born in Sussex and kicked out of school for her adventurous sense of style. After a brief stint at Harrod’s, she joined Malcolm McLaren’s extended family, working in and becoming the face of his shop Sex. Jordan was drawn into the orbit of McClaren’s bands, the Sex Pistols, and Adam and the Ants, and along the way became a star in her own right, appearing in the highly controversial first airing of the Sex Pistols’ ‘Anarchy in the U.K.’ video on British national television. Her moment happened, writes Liam Hess, “when she was standing at the front of the crowd in a T-shirt that read ‘only anarchists are pretty.’” Punk rock is SO True Fashionista!

And who doesn't love any shade of pink as much as we do at True Fashionistas, Naples' best consignment store?
Magenta is a bright, vibrant pink with hints of purple and was only recently introduced to the Pantone color range in 2019. It's the perfect shade to inject some life and fun into your wardrobe. Magenta is also an excellent color for all skin tones, so don't be afraid to experiment with it! To be more precise, Pantone Color Institute's Executive Director Leatrice Eiseman fabulously stated recently, "It's brave, it's fearless, it's pulsating, and it promotes optimism and joy." Echoing her sentiments, Pantone Color Institute VP Laurie Pressman said, "This is an unconventional color for an unconventional time. And the biggest overriding factor in shaping the time has been our experience with COVID in forcing us to make changes that willingly or not have transformed our lifestyles." Where else to find a store full of viva magenta but True Fashionistas, Florida's largest lifestyle consignment store?
Magenta can be worn a few different ways. For starters, you can get inspired by Jennifer Lopez' November 2022 Vogue cover. Sam Edelman's belted wool blend coat in magenta guarantees you'll be seen for miles while holiday shopping. A magenta cami from On Gossamer is the perfect bottom casual tee for your layered looks.
If you're looking for something bold and attention-grabbing, try pairing magenta with black or white. This creates a True Fashionista contrast that is sure to turn heads. Suppose you want something more subtle, pair magenta with other pastel colors like baby blue or yellow. This gives off a more whimsical vibe perfect for springtime. No matter how you wear it, magenta is sure to make a statement. And don't forget your Gucci rouge a Levres Mat lipstick for the final touch of magenta magic! Viva magenta has also worked its way into footwear with Adidas' Supernova running shoe for that annual New Year's resolution.

]]>We've discussed the True Fashionista capsule wardrobe earlier in this very blog-osphere. For a quick review, it's a small collection of clothes that can be mixed and matched to create multiple looks. The key to a successful capsule wardrobe is choosing versatile pieces that can be dressed up or down. With the right pieces, you can create dozens of unique outfits that are not only in fashion now but will also turn into classics soon. If you're looking to build a capsule wardrobe for winter in our tropical environs or chillier locales, here are some essential pieces to get you started. Don't forget that items like these and more are waiting for you at True Fashionistas, Naples' best consignment store.
]]>A good sweater is the cornerstone of any winter capsule wardrobe, even for those few chillier December and January days in southwest Florida. Look for a style that flatters your figure and can be dressed up or down. A neutral color like black, white, or gray will give you the most versatility. Curl up in Peruvian Connection's Hygge Baby luxurious alpaca sweater, perfect for sleigh rides or a night of Netflix. This winter, a comfy grey Women Most Wonderful Cardi from Soft Surroundings is also your cozy bff. Make friends now.
Your winter coat can also double as a True Fashionista couture statement. Choose a style that suits your taste and flatters your figure. Again, neutral colors are best, so you can wear it with everything. One surefire capsule staple is a leather jacket. Often you can find them with a removable lining for chillier days, such as Wilsons Leather Lindsey scuba jacket with Thinsulate lining. Its classic cut will keep it forever hip in your capsule collection and wearable through the winter and into early spring. Also, look no further than that staple outerwear brand, The North Face. Their ¾-length hooded Metropolis Parka protects from the elements in style. Discover the beautiful collection of designer coats and jackets at True Fashionistas, the best designer consignment store.
Every woman needs a good pair of either booties or boots for winter. They should be comfortable enough to wear all day but stylish enough to dress up an outfit. We're not talking slogging through six inches of snow, mind you, just pure True Fashionista hipness factor for winter. Think basic colors like black, beige, and cream for mixing and matching. Suede and leather are both always on trend for your capsule wardrobe. Black is always a safe bet, but feel free to experiment with different colors and styles, like Tamara Mellon's Easy Rider Mid Calf boots in soft Vitello leather or Cole Haan cream-colored Angora-suede Greenwich booties.
Probably the most no-brainer entry on this list, a great pair of jeans is essential for any wardrobe, but they're essential in winter when you want to be comfortable but still look put-together. Jeans are found a-plenty at True Fashionistas consignment store Naples. While you're going through the racks, be on the lookout for a pair that fits well and flatters your figure. You can never go wrong with dark-wash skinny jeans like J. Crew's Factory Slim Boyfriend jeans. Wide legs like Veronica Beard Kick-Flare high-rise jeans in dark ink will cover the essential list on the other end.
A True Fashionista blazer is an instant game-changer. It is the item that does everything, goes everywhere, and is a winter and every-other-season capsule wardrobe item forever. While you can easily get by on simply one blazer, why not stock up on various colors and styles? The Hailey Jacket by Capsule 121 instantly dresses you up with its peaked lapels and soft fabric. And the name alone, right? Get that just right oversized look with several fine choices from Everlane. If you've been searching for a blazer in that truest of winter fabrics, corduroy, try Banana Republic's double-breasted Rivoli blazer in Vicuna Brown.
These are just a few essential pieces for building a winter capsule wardrobe but remember, the key is to choose versatile items that can be mixed and matched to create multiple looks. With the right pieces, you'll have everything you need to stay stylish all season long!

]]>We’re going to jump in with that classic party staple, the little black dress, or more simply, LBD. This holiday outfit just screams chic, especially for 2022 with one-shoulder styles from Cinq a Sept, A-line sexiness from Alice + Olivia, or below-the-knee sheath fit from Eileen Fisher, among the many. Whether you opt for a simple style or something more embellished, an LBD is sure to make you feel festive and stylish.
Another way to stand out at your holiday party is to go for a sequined dress. Sequins add instant glamour to any outfit, so you'll be sure to turn heads when you walk into the room. Opt for a dress in a festive color like red or green, or start with an LBD that also features sequins for a more dramatic look, like the Smyth dress from NBD. Go to-the-floor glam with the sleeveless, backless Samba gown from Amanda Uprichard, or Free People’s That Girl sequin slip dress. Sequins are NOT just for New Year’s Eve, enjoy them throughout the holiday season! Find your sequin dream outfit in the selection at True Fashionistas consignment store, Naples.
The velvet cocktail dress is a cherished possession hanging proudly in your capsule wardrobe, as it is one of the most popular fabrics for True Fashionista holiday party dresses. Velvet’s luxurious feel and array of sexy styles makes it a perfect fabric for the festive season. If you're looking for a unique True Fashionista velvet dress, try opting for a style with an interesting neckline or cutouts.
Velvet dresses in unexpected colors like blue or pink are a hot item, however red is still a go-to shade, like the pleated long-sleeve elegance from Badgley Mischka. Go Diane von Furstenberg classic with a velvet wrap dress like Anthropologie’s offering. Don’t miss Ronny Kobo’s beautiful green puffed-shoulder midi dress, and Zhivago’s high-neck midi velvet dress called The Portrait. Shop for velvet dresses in an array of colors at True Fashionistas, the best designer consignment store.
Be it a stole, cropped jacket or full-length coat, fur is always chic, and will keep you warm if the party is held outdoors or in a drafty room. This is a great way to add some True Fashionista luxury to your look without going over the top. No worries if you’re feeling PC these days, there are plenty of faux fur offerings to complete your outfit. Alice + Olivia again step up with the Kidman feather jacket. Snuggle in to Overland’s alpaca wool Bella Cape with fox fur trim throughout for a luxurious feel, and the reversible fox fur vest by Gorski offers a padded chevron pattern as an option.
No matter what type of outfit you rock this holiday season, adding some statement jewelry will help to elevate your look. If you're wearing a simple dress, try pairing it with a True Fashionista bold necklace or earrings for that finishing touch. For something more dramatic, go for a jewel-encrusted headpiece or cuff bracelet.
One solid trend happening this year is the resurgence of silver jewelry, always a timeless winter accessory. Retro designs like silver chains and hoops are getting a rebirth for holiday season 2022. Heart-shaped pendants and drop earrings are also hot items. Since we’re still making up for lost time, specifically the last two years, the general mood calls for a colorful, bold statement in jewelry. Go chunky or go home, like supersized cocktail rings by Dior and Givenchy, door-knocker earrings from Versace and Carolina Herrera and maximalist chains created by Tom Ford and Balmain.
Referring back to the aforementioned popularity of fur for holiday party wear, fur is also a trending style for your True Fashionista holiday evening bag, with the likes of Olga Berg, Loeffler and Crest all offering a fluffy statement to hold your party essentials. Available in an array of colors and styles, feather is definitely the fur to wear this year. We are far from spring, but florals are also a hot look in purses this holiday season. You can also find sequin purses such as Simitri’s take on the style. At True Fashionistas, you can shop authentic designer handbags on consignment.
Find your perfect authentic designer holiday outfits with flourish and fun at True Fashionistas, Naples’ best consignment store. Shop, sell and consign in-store or 24/7 online. Be sure to sign up for exclusive email discounts as well for the fashionistas on your list. Happy holidays!
]]>If you're like most, your living room is the central gathering place in your home. It's where you watch TV, entertain guests, and relax with family. So, it's important that your True Fashionista living room reflects your personal style and makes a good impression on visitors. Many people unfortunately make dreaded design mistakes that sabotage their living rooms. To help you avoid making these mistakes, we've compiled a list of the five worst offenders. Read on, then find much of what you’ll need in the Home section of True Fashionistas consignment store, Naples.
]]>Before you start shopping for furniture and decor, it's important to have a clear idea of how you want to use the space. Do you want it to be a place where you can entertain large groups of people? Or is it going to be more intimate, reserved for close family and friends? Once you've decided on the main purpose of the room, everything else will fall into place much more easily.
If you’re looking to entertain visitors, consider True Fashionista modular sectional seating that can be configured however you need it in the moment.
Whether you're working with a large or small space, it's important to pay attention to scale and proportion when selecting furniture and decor. For example, if you have a small living room, opt for a True Fashionista sofa with clean lines rather than an overstuffed one. And if your ceilings are on the taller side, take advantage of that vertical space by hanging art or suspending pendant lights from the ceiling. Speaking of lights.
Lighting is key in any room, but it's especially important in a living room because that's typically where people gather in the evenings after work. You'll want to have a mix of different lighting sources to create a warm and inviting atmosphere. Table lamps, floor lamps, recessed lighting, and even candles can all play a role in lighting your living room. Just be sure not to rely too heavily on overhead lighting, as that can give the space an austere feel. Consider adding some accent lights from the collection at Naples’ best consignment store, True Fashionistas for that final perfecto touch. Speaking of lights...
One common mistake people make when designing their living rooms is failing to incorporate enough texture into the space. A little bit of True Fashionista texture can go a long way in making a room feel more inviting and comfortable. Consider adding a plush area rug, cozy throw blankets, or velvety pillows to your living room for an extra touch of luxury.
Your living room should be both beautiful and functional, so don't skimp on storage! Make sure there's ample space for storing things like blankets, games, books, and remote controls out of sight BUT within reach. A coffee table with built-in storage or baskets underneath the sofa are both great options for maximizing storage in your living room without sacrificing style. With ideas like West Elm’s long and low industrial storage cabinet or Italian brand Balutto Associati’s classy ivory storage bench featuring curves and soft lines, you can store all your small living room necessities while keeping a fresh look in your home.
Browse the selection of authentic designer home furnishings, accessories, and accents at True Fashionistas, Florida’s largest lifestyle consignment store. Enjoy our always-evolving collection in store and 24/7 online. Remember to sign up for our email list for tons of additional discounts as well!

Tommy Hilfiger is one of America's most iconic fashion designers. In a career spanning over three decades, Hilfiger has dressed everyone from A-list celebrities like Adele, Kourtney Kardashian and Jessica Simpson to everyday shoppers in his clean-cut, preppy designs. His dedication to creating classic American style has earned him legions of fans across the globe—and a place in fashion history.
A dreamer and music fan from a working-class family in a small town, Thomas Jacob Hilfiger was born March 24, 1951. He’d always loved True Fashionista clothes, and in his teens, decided to pursue his passions.
Raised in Elmira, New York, Hilfiger was always interested in fashion. In the late 60s, a position at a clothing store on Cape Cod was all the encouragement he needed to make them his life. Two years later, he opened a clothing store called People's Place in downtown Elmira. The store quickly grew to become a cultural hangout as it expanded to include a hair salon, record shop, and a stage for rock concerts. Hilfiger and his friend/business partner Larry Stemerman would drive to New York City to buy bellbottoms and other hippie-type items like incense and candles to sell at the store.
People’s Place was such a hit, they ended up opening additional stores on several upstate New York college campuses. Hilfiger also began designing for other boutiques. Despite his stores’ hipness factor, poor bookkeeping sent them into bankruptcy in 1975. A few years later, Hilfiger decided to pursue a full-fledged career in fashion design. See the results of that momentous decision at True Fashionistas, the best designer consignment store.
After studying fashion design at Parson's School of Design, Hilfiger moved to New York City to pursue his dream of making his own clothing as a fashion designer. In 1985, he launched his first signature collection with support from Mohan Murjani of Murjani Brands. Thus, the world was introduced to Tommy Hilfiger. Bringing legendary ad man George Lois onboard was also a plus, as was his idea to put the brand on a billboard in the center of New York’s Times Square.
The Tommy Hilfiger label was an instant success. By the early 1990s, Hilfiger's clothing was being sold in major department stores across the United States, and currently at True Fashionistas consignment store, Naples. His clean-cut aesthetic resonated with consumers, and his ability to mix classic pieces with more modern silhouettes appealed to a wide range of True Fashionista customers. In 1995, Hilfiger debuted his first fragrance, which quickly became one of the best-selling perfumes in America. From there, he expanded into other areas including luggage, home furnishings, and an award-winning line of jeanswear.
By the 1990s, Hilfiger was the True Fashionista designer to the music stars, dressing everyone from Snoop Doggy Dogg to Lenny Kravitz and the late Aaliyah. In 1999, he was named a main sponsor of singer Britney Spears on her debut tour.
Throughout his career, Tommy Hilfiger has remained true to his roots, creating clothing that is both classic and modern. His devoted following includes some of the biggest names in Hollywood; everyone from Beyonce to Oprah has been spotted wearing his designs. In 2010, Hilfiger even received the Geoffrey Beene Lifetime Achievement Award from the Council of Fashion Designers of America (CFDA), cementing his place as one of America's most iconic designers.
In 1995, Hilfiger founded The Tommy Hilfiger Corporate Foundation, which aimed to improve the lives of youth through cultural and education programs. He is also a long time JDRF (Juvenile Diabetes Research Foundation) supporter, raising thousands for the fight against this debilitating and oife-threatening disease. More recently, the company partnered with Calvin Klein for the Fashion Climate Fund to help the initiative achieve its aim of encouraging the industry away from the use of fossil fuels.
Be your own rock star and shop authentic Tommy Hilfiger at Florida’s largest lifestyle consignment store, True Fashionistas! Browse in-store or 24/7 online, and be sure to get on our email list for additional discounts.

Bucket hats are having a moment in the fashion world, and there's no better time to try them out than during the winter months. Bucket hats are practical and stylish, and they come in a variety of colors and materials, such as a gorgeous bright yellow recycled nylon hat from Prada. If you live in an area with cold winters, opt for a True Fashionista bucket hat made from fur or wool. If you prefer a more lightweight option for our sunny Florida environs, try one made from cotton, linen or Paco Rabanne’s frayed denim bucket hat. ]]>When the weather gets chilly, use the time as an excuse for a scarf, which can give you a reason to invest in one by a top designer like Alexander McQueen. Their reversible skull scarf is trendy and classy enough to last well beyond Halloween while keeping you warm with a touch of style. With so many different types of scarves available, choosing one that suits your style is easy. Another scarf trend for 2022/2023 is that of giant scarves, spotted everywhere during NY Fashion Week and made by the likes of Loewe, Marni, and Acne Studios. From fuzzy, cozy options to a range of patterns and colors, wear your giant scarf with a neutral-tailored coat for complete winter hipness. You can also find an abundance of scarves in many colors and styles at True Fashionistas, the best designer consignment store.
Another great way to keep warm in winter is wearing a True Fashionista hat, which offers the added benefit of being fashionable when worn correctly. They can be worn with almost any outfit and come in a wide range of styles to suit every taste. One super popular hat style happening this year is the balaclava. In the face of an especially cold winter prediction, the balaclava, similar to a ski mask, would be a wise purchase. Otherwise, Jimmy Choo, king of the stiletto, offers up his Gerry Marl grey knitted wool hat as a charmer, or you could plunk on Moncler’s logo beanie with faux fur pom for style.
Gloves are another must-have item for keeping cozy in winter. They also add a touch of elegance to any outfit. Choose a pair of gloves that match your coat for a pulled-together look. You can’t go wrong with cashmere for soft, luxurious warmth. Sofia’s cashmere gloves with a huge poof at the wrists will fit the True Fashionista bill. Colour-Block puts cashmere on the inside of their leather gloves and offers them up in an array of colors.
Boots fulfill two critical areas of fashion in the winter, as they can be warm and stylish. There are so many different types of boots available, from ankle boots to thigh-high, so you can find a pair that suits your needs. Try Blundstone’s 510 Chelsea boots for waterproofing and, of course, coolness and comfort. Then there’s always that winter standby, the Ugg Adirondack III. Funny name, excellent winter boot complete with sheepskin lining.
A coat is one of the most essential items in your wardrobe during wintertime. It will keep you warm and help you make a fashion statement simultaneously. There are many different styles of coats available, including the ongoing popular puffer variety, so you can find one that suits your taste perfectly at True Fashionistas consignment store in Naples. Another essential winter item is an oversized coat, like the version Bottega Veneta offers. It pairs well with a pop of color beneath.
This season, lots of fun and unique purse styles are available, so you can find one that perfectly matches your personality. Tiny purses are all the rage, so look for Chanel’s tweed square-shaped purse. Fendi offers a pouch-sized crescent-shaped bag complete with an O’lock chain strap in alternating gold hardware and tortoise shell. You’ll be all the rage at holiday parties fo’ sho!
Bangles are a fun and easy way to accessorize any outfit. They also have the added benefit of being very versatile. You can wear them with everything from jeans to dresses. Saint Laurent burned up the runways with their chunky bangle sets that accessorized beautifully with their latest fashion presentations. Chanel also showed up with their version of traditionally patterned, logoed bangle bracelets to match belts and necklaces. Tory Burch represents this season with oversized, dramatic pearls, while Givenchy rips it up with chunky jewelry that’s as statement as it gets.

]]>One of the hottest looks designers flocked to for fall runways was oversized pieces with ultra-long sleeves. It's also one of the easiest ways to stay comfortable and stylish in cooler weather. An oversized sweater or cardigan looks excellent paired with True Fashionista skinny jeans or leggings, and you can add a scarf or beanie for extra warmth. If you're feeling really daring, you can even try an oversized trench coat! This season's ultra-long sleeves also go so far as to almost completely hide your hands, a significant plus in colder climates. One such achievement is the La Greca monogram bodysuit by Versace. Also making the "hide your hands" statement is Proenza Schouler's zip mock neck rib sweater. Just make sure that the proportions of long sleeves against the rest of your outfit are balanced to perfection.
Layer, Layer, Layer- Another great way to stay warm and look hip is to layer your clothing. A long-sleeved tee underneath a sweater is a classic look that never goes out of style. Experiment with the long sleeve tee from Halogen. Their soft, lightweight fabric and fitted shape provide an easy layer to start with. You can try layering a button-down shirt over said tee or try the Everland organic cotton crew tee. Wear a turtleneck underneath a dress or jumpsuit for those throwback moods. The key is to experiment and see what works best for you, then shop for it at True Fashionistas, the best designer consignment store.
Get creative with textures and materials for your perfect go-to sweater: When it comes to staying warm, it's not just about layering but also choosing suitable materials. Wool and other thick fabrics will help keep you cozy, but they can also be very scratchy and uncomfortable. Opt for softer materials like cotton or linen instead. You can't go wrong with the KindCashmere turtleneck sweater from Lafayette 148 New York, which also conveniently has ultra-long sleeves! Look sleek in an ultra-long tunic length with a ribbed mock neck sweater from Free People. You can also get creative with textures by pairing corduroy with denim or mixing different types of long-sleeved knitwear. Find an array of sweater styles at True Fashionistas consignment store in Naples.
The cooler weather is an exciting reason to freshen your wardrobe! Find the hottest styles for the colder months at True Fashionistas, Florida's largest lifestyle consignment store. Shop our authenticated designer collection in-store or 24/7 online, and make sure you're on our email list to lock in additional discounts.

]]>However, what if a label were SO exclusive that locating their offerings is a challenge and thrill unto itself? Can you imagine a brand so high-end as not to offer e-commerce or do any advertising, one that exists solely on word of mouth and the pretty pictures, but no purchase options, on their website? Welcome to the world of Goyard.
We are all familiar with Louis Vuitton as the atelier that put Paris on the map. Founded in 1854 with its True Fashionista monogram and commitment to quality, they quickly rose to fame. Best of all, there is always a lovely selection of Louis Vuitton at True Fashionistas, Naples' best consignment store.
However, a year before Vuitton came to life, another French luxury brand quietly launched. With all the secrecy surrounding the brand, we resort to our friend Wikipedia for the backstory.
"Maison Morel was the official purveyor of Marie-Caroline de Bourbon-Sicile, Duchesse de Berry, an honor that granted it the title of "box maker, trunk maker and packer of Her Royal Highness The Duchess of Berry." Maison Martin's store sign featured references to the three traditional crafts of "box making, trunk making, and packing" that were at the core of its business. Pierre François Martin was the guardian of a young female ward, Pauline Moutat, and gave his business as her dowry. He was also instrumental in arranging her marriage to one of his employees, Louis-Henri Morel (1817–1852). Morel followed in Martin's footsteps and introduced himself as the 'Successor to former Maison Morel.'
In turn, Louis-Henri Morel passed on his skills and knowledge to a seventeen-year-old apprentice named François Goyard, whom he hired in 1845. Young François received state-of-the-art training under the dual guidance of Pierre François Martin and Louis-Henri Morel."
Goyard's is a reputation built on quality and prestige. They shun any press; their website shows you product without selling it, and their social media is but a digital showroom. Once approached by the press, they responded that the True Fashionista brand "firmly believes in values such as exclusivity and discretion" and suggested reaching out to Chanel's Karl Lagerfeld for comment instead. Ooh, burrrrn, but that's Goyard. And did we mention they are still privately owned, meaning no answering to stockholders? Thus, the secrecy of this mystery luxury label remains.
It's been said that while other brands provide seasonal updates, open stores, and hire new creative directors to refresh the label, Goyard keeps being well, Goyard. By purchasing a Goyard bag, you've just joined an elite club, and you know because, well, you know. Maybe, just mayyybe, you can luck out on a Goyard bag at True Fashionistas, Florida's largest lifestyle consignment store; who knows?
Since their launch in the mid-19th century, Goyard has been renowned in Europe for their custom-made trunks, exquisite handbags, finely crafted leather accessories in their instantly recognizable hand-painted Chevron patterns. It's also the place where apprenticed artists hand-paint initials or images onto bags for a substantial price. Their handbags are simple, lightweight, and made to the utmost quality, and the brand holds resale value in true heirloom style.
Now the question that's burning in the back of everyone's mind: Just who has purchased one of these exclusive, timeless, "secret" bags? Have we seen a celebrity on the Met Gala red carpet rocking a True Fashionista Goyard and not even known it?
It's a company that's been in business for over 150 years so the list can be long. Many members of European royalty have been customers, including the queens of Yugoslavia and Greece post-WWII, while the Duke and Duchess of Windsor purchased their first Goyard goods in 1939. Sir Arthur Conan Doyle had a custom-made "writer's trunk" equipped with a filing cabinet, bookcase, typewriter, and a foldable desk. More recently, Goyards have been spotted worn by Madonna, Victoria Beckham, and Kanye West who expressed his love for Goyard trunks in his 2007 song, The Glory.
Sometimes…(Hushed voice. Glance left and right)…one can score a Goyard purse or tote from True Fashionistas, where authentic designer handbags on consignment are always part of our collection. That's right; occasionally a Goyard will sneak its way onto our shelves and momentarily grace us with its presence until you, dear shopper, harken upon it. And now you know. (smirk)

In its brand colors of black, gold, and white, Versace Home was established in 1992, featuring a homeware collection conveying all the grandeur, luxury, and drama for which the label was known.
After ruling over fashion weeks and styling prestigious celebrities, Versace Home was established to an enthusiastic response, introducing a homeware collection reflecting the luxury and quality of its clothing, footwear, and accessories. Dubbed Objets Nomades, this LV extension was established in 2012 and continues to showcase exquisite items by outside interior designers. The House invited designers like Patricia Urquiola, Campana Brothers, Raw Edges, and Andre Fu to collaborate and bring new art pieces that still reflect the LV banner.
For instance, the belt lounge chair by Atelier Oï, is crafted to perfection using 14 LV leather belts set in a metal and wooden frame. The Marcel Wanders Studio’s red diamond vase is another example of the True Fashionista brand’s virtuosity. The diamond-studded teardrop vase, made of Murano glass and encased by LV leather straps, reflects the impeccable design codes of both houses.
