DIOR AND MORE: PREVIEW OF FASHION ON FILM AND TV
What's more fun than wearing high-end designer clothing that you scored for deep discounts at your fave consignment store, Naples, True Fashionistas? Not much, of course, but right up there are movies and TV shows about our darling designers. We love it when filmmakers give a nod to the artistic talents of fashion's haute couture creators, be it their somewhat complicated backstories (House of Gucci, 2021) or tragic endings (McQueen, 2018, the story of Alexander McQueen), plus many more over the years.
As fashion is ever-evolving, so are the stories about it. Here are some of the fashion-focused releases to be looking out for over the next few months, so you can plan accordingly and, you know, dress for the occasion!
PREVIEW OF FASHION ON FILM AND TV – MRS. HARRIS GOES TO PARIS
The charming story of a widowed British housekeeper who dreams of nothing more than to own a certain Dior evening gown is the story of this latest effort by director Anthony Fabian (Louder than Words, 2013) starring Lesley Manville as leading character Ada Harris.
After falling in love with said gown, she decides she will do whatever it takes to own it and embarks upon a European adventure that will take her to places she never imagined possible. Mrs. Harris… is a story of everything True Fashionista, from evoking a deep love for the art of dressmaking to the power of a beautiful dress and the message that it's never too late to follow your heart and live your life to the fullest.
Fabian co-wrote the script with Carroll Cartwright (What Maisie Knew), Keith Thompson (The Sapphires), and Olivia Hetreed (Girl with a Pearl Earring). The story, set in the 1950s, is an adaptation of the novel by Paul Gallico, first published in 1958.
Mrs. Harris… is also produced in partnership with the House of Dior. Enticed by the name? Discover our selection of Dior and more at True Fashionistas, the best designer consignment store.
