FABRICS WE LOVE (AND HATE) THIS SUMMER

Nooooo! You’ve dared to venture out to an intimate poolside gathering, True Fashionista matching face mask and tote intact when you look down and sure enough, two glistening patches of sweat have appeared on your chest. How do the glam babes in the online fashion mag pics avoid this plague, you wonder, while hurriedly excusing yourself to the powder room to dab. Here are a few fabric ideas to ponder while hovering over the air dryer.

LOOKS THAT ROCK FROM A DISTANCE

Just think, only a few short months ago, we had never even heard the term “social distancing”. Now it’s a permanent fixture inside our subconscious along with face masks and handwashing. How the times have changed. Fashion, as usual, has adjusted with the times as well.  Outfits once viewed as eye-catchingly outrageous have become very True Fashionista on their own right. If it makes a statement from far away, it’s what you want to be seen in, from virtual runways to a modestly busy, fully-masked midtown setting.

CONSIGNING FOR SUCCESS IN PANDEMIC TIMES

Has boredom pushed you to the edge of insanity these past few months? Where you literally took everything out of your closet, threw it on the floor for a giant cleanout, then brought it all (or sent it all)  in to your local True Fashionista consignment store? If you’re feverishly nodding your head in agreement, you are not alone.

STATEMENT SNEAKERS

Oh, how we love a good pair of sneakers! A fresh pair of trainers should be as much a part of your collection as your new Prada bag and Manolo Blahniks. For this thought we headed to Urban Thesaurus in order to fully immerse ourselves in the sneaker freaker experience. We were pleasantly surprised to find a lengthy list of colorful names for the rubberized footwear we’ve come to know and love. Our favorite at the moment is “duh dunt duh dunts”, which specifically refers to True Fashionista Chuck Taylors, a true classic.

10 WARDROBE ESSENTIALS AND HOW TO WEAR THEM

With all the time we’ve been spending in sweatpants and pajamas lately, we are SO ready to venture out and (cautiously) experience the world once again. Before you head to the stores and the gradually filling streets, this would be as good a time as any to review what’s in your closet to make sure that you’re ready for your reintroduction to life beyond the Zoom meeting, as well as the True Fashionista summer ahead.

HISTORY OF BALENCIAGA

You’ve seen those True Fashionista bright-colored windbreakers, the stunning floral printed “It” bags, oversized outfits and those rockin’ gladiator boots, not to forget the logo-emblazoned t-shirts worn by those in the know. This house has the hipster factor of the street, and its name is Balenciaga.

STYLIN’ SUMMER POOL AND BEACH LOOKS

Here in our tropical home base of Naples, Florida, summer is already here and happening. Whether you’re creeping out into the world little by little or still staying put, it helps to be on top of what’s hot for any upcoming True Fashionista hangs by the water, be it with the fam or an in-person reunion with peeps you’ve only seen on a screen over the past couple of months.

8 CLASSIC FASHION ICONS

As fashion trends continue to unfold and evolve, it never hurts to pause for a moment and reflect back at who was there to help pave the True Fashionista way. So often we turn to today’s celebrities to show us what’s hot, but it can also be helpful to look at style icons from years past for further insight.

FROM THE WAIST UP – ZOOM MEETING LOOK TO KILL

OK, so we’re spending inordinate amounts of time in front of screens these WFH days. When it comes to checking in and participating in your weekly (daily?) Zoom meeting, you want to rule the grid, right? The world may have basically stopped, but we’re still here to search out some True Fashionista trends so, you know, there’s a reason to get excited and face the smiling mugs of your coworkers. Don’t forget lipstick!
MISSING THE FIRST MONDAY IN MAY

MISSING THE FIRST MONDAY IN MAY

It doesn’t get more depressing than this: Like everything else this crazy year, the 2020 Met Gala was canceled, or as they say, “postponed indefinitely”. The classic flurry of fashion, photographers and A-listers dressed to the True Fashionista nines was a non-entity, as the iconic First Monday in May came and went with eerie silence at New York’s currently shuttered Metropolitan Museum of Art.
DIGITAL FASHION IN THE PANDEMIC ERA

DIGITAL FASHION IN THE PANDEMIC ERA

Everyone’s got a new normal these days, but as things unfolded and locked down worldwide, the British Fashion Council was ready to go, recently announcing an online version of London Fashion Week: Men’s, happening June 12th – 14th. Content will roll out in completely digital form for the first time via londonfashionweek.co.uk, reports Vogue. In case women might feel left out and alone at home in these extraordinarily worrisome times, this True Fashionista event has been retrofitted as a gender-neutral presentation, allowing all to enjoy a little normalcy and fun amid the excitement and presentation of tomorrow’s fashion by today’s hottest and up-and-coming designers.
HISTORY OF BURBERRY

HISTORY OF BURBERRY

Distinctly British, Burberry has been evoking cozy feelings of functionality and style since 1856 when 21-year-old Thomas Burberry established his namesake company in Basingstoke, England. Upon initial launch it was more about clothing functionality. Shares Christine-Marie Liwag Dixon for The List, Burberry’s (original name) was founded on the principle that clothing should be designed simply to protect people from the mostly nasty British weather.
