THE EVOLUTION OF DESIGNER CONSIGNMENT

THE EVOLUTION OF DESIGNER CONSIGNMENT

You can’t argue with the numbers quoted by Vogue in February 2021. In 2019, designer resale grew 25 times faster than full-price retail—and what is now a $28 billion market will more than double to reach an astonishing $64 billion by 2024.

MUST-HAVE SUMMER PRINTS FOR FASHION SUCCESS

There’s a growing chance that we’ll be seen out and about much more this summer than last. Breathing a collective sigh of relief, the designer community embraced the feeling in their True Fashionista seasonal creations viewed in limited-seating and virtual runway shows back in December. We’re ready to live the result now, quite possibly without a mask to match (yay).
FASHION COLOR TRENDS FOR FALL 2021 | truefashionistas | Women’s Fashion and Clothing

FASHION COLOR TRENDS FOR FALL 2021

Straight from Pantone courtesy of WWD come the most anticipated True Fashionista color trends to know about this fall. Thanks to vaccines, there is an undeniable air of hope and optimism abounding for ‘21, and fashion is happy to reflect it in street style and more. Back in December, as Layla Lichi reported, Pantone revealed that Illuminating — a bright yellow hue — and Ultimate Gray are its 2021 Colors of the Year, as both represent unity, stability and hope. Perhaps Pantone Executive Director Leatrice Eiseman put it best, “When the gray clouds disperse, we see the sunshine.” Aside from these two, several energetic colors stood out on the Fall ’21 runways, like a denim, close to sky-looking blue, gorgeous greens, a proper brown in outerwear, fiery reds and luscious auburns and comforting beiges.
REMEMBERING PIERRE CARDIN | truefashionistas | Women’s Fashion and Clothing

REMEMBERING PIERRE CARDIN

French designer and household name Pierre Cardin passed away December 29, 2020 at age 98. We pause to give reverence to a True Fashionista visionary in men’s and women’s fashion whose decades-long career had many notable successes. He pioneered the now common practice of designer licensing by putting his name not just on his ready-to-wear clothes but also on luggage, carpets, kitchen appliances, watches, sunglasses and much more. He was also the first French designer to create a ready-to-wear line of clothing rather than custom-order clothing in 1954. A decade later he became the first women’s designer to launch a collection for men with his famous necktie, eventually expanding to a full line. Cardin was also the first French couturier to break into the Asian and Soviet fashion markets, staging the first French couture fashion show in Beijing in 1979.

HISTORY OF COCO CHANEL | truefashionistas | Women’s Fashion and Clothing

HISTORY OF COCO CHANEL

Yes of course Coco Chanel is synonymous with all that is True Fashionista, and label namesake Gabrielle Bonheur Chanel led quite the adventurous and exciting life, breaking ground and introducing now legendary items and looks that we just could not do without in our style pursuits. Even now, in the pandemic and most cautiously, post-pandemic era, we continue to use Chanel as a standard against which many fashion entities are measured.

FASHION WEEK REIMAGINED | truefashionistas | Women’s Fashion and Clothing

FASHION WEEK REIMAGINED

Here we are over six months into a pandemic, but the world must go on. The fashion world, like everyone else, knows full well that now more than ever the masses need, crave actually, fresh designs and the runways with which to introduce them, even if it’s mostly the live streaming version. Who better than True Fashionista creative design types to come up with a way for Fashion Month to still somehow happen? All that quarantined creative spark has had to go somewhere, and from what we’ve heard and seen from the initial party, aka New York Fashion Week, the new fashion normal did not disappoint.
